On Wednesday evening, ESPN aired a 50th anniversary special of the 1966 NCAA Championship game between Kentucky and Texas Western, and we have a 720p HD replay of the special ready for you to watch directly below. SPOILER: Kentucky lost.
This special includes a replay of the game as well as interviews/discussions with players from the game from both teams, the coach of Texas Western, and more. It’s hosted by John Saunders and Jay Bilas, and there are a few segments with other ESPN personalities sprinkled in throughout.
This game features Rupp’s runts, which includes UK legends such as All-Americans Pat Riley, Louie Dampier, & Thad Jaracz as well as All-SEC players Larry Conley & Tommy Kron. In case you didn’t know, the game is historically known as Texas Western being the first team to win an NCAA championship while starting five African American players.
