Kentucky Wildcats TV have come through, as always, to provide the BBN with post game videos. First up is Coach Cal’s press conference with the media, followed by player interviews featuring Andrew Harrison, Julius Randle, and James Young. Below each video is a rough trascript we wrote up with all the questions the media asked the coach and players.
QUESTIONS TO COACH CAL:
John, what did you think of Florida’s steadiness down the stretch?
Cal, what happened on the technical? We couldn’t really see what happened…
Cal, you kind of alluded to it… Do you feel like your kids kind of reverted in that last 4 minute stretch there?
How much, John, is [Scottie Wilbekin] sort if the… [gets cut off by Cal]
John, what about your shot selection the last 11 minutes? I think you only had 4 field goals the last 11 minutes…
John, what do you want your guys to get out of this game?
Coach, could the points scored off that technical foul–it seemed to swing the game–do you think it might have done that?
Can you talk more about how Andrew [Harrison] played?
Is this the best he’s [Andrew Harrison] played when he’s not making shots?
Cal, Julius had a pretty strong first half and then they came really quick with the double. What were they doing differently and how did he react to it?
John, why do you think Alex [Poythress] and Willie [Caulie-Stein] struggled to make an impact?
John, you’ve said some nice stuff about Florida. Is it fair to say that this team might be the best one they’ve had since you’ve been coaching at Kentucky?
QUESTIONS TO ANDREW HARRISON:
Is it frustrating that you’ve had a lot of these same comments after losses throughout the year? Do you kind of keep thinking that maybe the next one will be the break through? Is it frustrating to have another game like that?
How did you feel about your all’s defense in the first half?
What was it that was going so well defensively in the first half?
What happened down the stretch?
James Young said it was a lack of focus. What do you think? What do you attribute it to?
How did Florida’s experience factor into everything?
QUESTIONS TO JULIUS RANDLE:
You guys were never the same after the technical. Is that true?
What do you see different about them double and triple teaming you? They were coming a little quicker.
Could you guys sense that even as well as you were playing that this was a veteran team and you just couldn’t get them rattled?
This game, Julius, was billed as their experience against your youth. How much of a factor do you think that was as the game wore on down the stretch?
The guys just told us from Florida that they felt like the underdog and it was such a big win because everyone was kind of against them. Do you feel like it was that way heading into this game?
QUESTIONS TO JAMES YOUNG:
Just not enough in the tank at the end… was it just one of those games where not enough shots fell and you got beat by an older team–a more experienced team–is that kind of how you felt?
How did you feel shooting the ball today?
You guys had them in a spot in the first half where you guys were building a lead, playing defense, had the momentum going, and then it just switched in the second half, would you say?
How can you correct the lack of focus moving forward?
James, what happened down the stretch in the last 4 or 5 minutes?
