Here are the Tennessee post game videos courtesy of Kentucky Wildcats TV on YouTube. First up are highlights of the game synced to the Tom Leach radio broadcast followed by the press conference with Coach Cal. Lastly, there’s a video of the media asking Julius Randle, Andrew Harrison, and Dakari Johnson questions about the game. I’ve typed up a rough transcript of the questions the media asked the coach and players. Watch the videos to hear how they responded.
QUESTIONS TO COACH CAL:
Cal, not many teams beat you guys on the boards the way they did, but how did you like the way you guys found ways to win and the free throw shooting?
Coach, talk about the boost that Dakari gave you off the bench today.
John, what did you see in Andrew [Harrison] that said, “OK, I can put the ball in his hands and he’s ready to do this?”
Cal, about every call-in show you have, somebody wants to know what you’re doing to work on free throws or wants a new guru to come in. What happened today, anything?
Coach, with the way they beat you in Knoxville last year, did you sense the returning players had a little more juice for this game?
John, you talked about how you have some guys that just aren’t in for a rough game. Is that Willie? I mean that’s two games this week where he’s just kind of stepped back…
Cal, what was the difference for Julius in the second half, and was there any of the fatigue and cramping in the second half?
Coach, 44% 3-point shooting… with what you guys already do well offensively–can this performance elevate you to that level that you like to be at offensively?
John, is Dakari about on target for what you were expecting? Does it take a bigger player a little longer to develop at this level?
QUESTIONS TO JULIUS RANDLE:
When coach talks about the other teams whacking you, he makes it sound like they’re a bunch of bullies and you’re like a little 90 lb. weakling. I forget that you are 6’9″ 260 lbs. How much do you think you’re holding your own in there?
Julius, what did Dakari give you guys, especially in the second half?
How do you think Andrew is coming along?
Julius, did you ever think there would be a game this year where nobody would have more than 4 rebounds in a game?
Could you see Dakari’s development coming along?
How hard has it been on him [Dakari]? I mean all you McDonald’s guys… most of you get to play a lot, and he’s having to wait his turn?
Julius, Cal was raving about the way Alex has been playing and practicing. What have you seen from him?
Is this the kind of game you guys needed? After the tough one at Arkansas, to be back at home and have this kind of overall effort?
QUESTIONS TO ANDREW HARRISON:
Do you think the game is coming to you easier now than what it did in November?
Did you think, maybe at the very start, that it would be easier than it was coming out of high school?
What’s the one part of your game where you are saying, “Hey, I’m really improving in this particular area?” Or is it just everything?
Cal basically said in the first half he was running through Julius. In the second half, everything ran through you. It’s like in the second half the team was put on your back.
Did you personally, and did the team want to make a statement after the way it ended in Arkansas on Tuesday?
QUESTIONS TO DAKARI JOHNSON:
Why is it you played so well today? I mean, that’s a big physical team?
What was Stokes able to do so well to get so many rebounds–a lot of them on the offensive end?
You all are usually the team that dominates on the glass. Was that kind of surprising to you to see it the other way around today?
Julius kind of kept you guys in the game in the first half, and then he doesn’t really do too much in the second half. What does that say about the rest of the team, that he can have an off half and still pull away with the victory?
With Andrew’s performance, Dakari, were you like, “Man I haven’t seen that yet?”
